The automotive scene in India is buzzing once again—this time with the arrival of the 2025 Tata Altroz. The updated version of Tata Motors’ well-regarded premium hatchback has started reaching dealerships across the country. And for buyers who’ve been keeping an eye on this refresh since its official launch on May 22, 2025, the wait is finally over. Bookings opened on June 2, and now you can actually head over to your nearest Tata showroom to see—and maybe even test drive—the new Altroz in person.
This latest iteration brings along a range of changes, both visually and under the hood, aimed at keeping the Altroz competitive against its familiar rivals like the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Toyota Glanza.
Fresh Design and Exterior Appeal
While the core silhouette of the Altroz hasn’t changed dramatically, it now feels sharper, more refined. Up front, there’s a redesigned grille and a pair of new twin-pod projector LED headlights that seamlessly integrate with sleek daytime running lights (DRLs). The bumper, too, has been revised, now looking sportier thanks to a larger air intake and new LED fog lamps.
One of the more interesting exterior upgrades? Segment-first flush door handles on the front doors. It’s a small touch, but it adds a surprising amount of visual cleanliness and a premium vibe. Plus, the doors open a full 90 degrees, which is genuinely handy. Around the back, you’ll spot sleek, connected LED tail lamps and a reworked bumper. The new alloy wheels, with their EV-inspired design, help complete the Altroz’s freshened stance.
Tata’s also introduced five new monotone color options: Pure Grey, Royal Blue, Dune Glow, Ember Glow, and Pristine White.
Upgraded Interior and Feature List
Step inside and the cabin now feels more upscale. It’s not a total overhaul, but you’ll notice some thoughtful updates. There are gloss black plastic accents, subtle white ambient lighting, and a switch to touch-based AC controls.
Some standout interior features include:
- Infotainment System: A free-standing 10.25-inch touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Driver Display: A fully digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster.
- Steering Wheel: A new two-spoke design with an illuminated Tata logo.
- Comfort Features: Ventilated front seats, a single-pane sunroof operable by voice commands, automatic climate control with rear vents, and cruise control.
- Convenience Touches: Push-button start, auto-folding ORVMs, a wireless phone charger, and an air purifier.
- Connectivity: Over 50 connected car features, four types of voice command functionalities, and 65W fast-charging USB ports in both front and rear rows.
Also notable—Tata says its “Executive Lounge seats” provide superior thigh support compared to some competitors, though you’ll probably want to try them yourself to see.
Powertrain Options
The 2025 Altroz continues to offer multiple engine choices, appealing to a variety of driving preferences:
- 1.2-litre Naturally Aspirated Petrol: 88 bhp and 115 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual, 5-speed AMT, or a 6-speed DCA automatic.
- 1.2-litre Petrol-CNG: Twin-cylinder setup producing 73.5 bhp and 103 Nm, with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
- 1.5-litre Diesel: 89 bhp and 200 Nm, exclusively mated to a 5-speed manual.
Interestingly, Tata has chosen not to include the 118 bhp 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine from the Altroz Racer in this standard model. Still, the Altroz remains the only car in its segment offering manual, AMT, and DCA options.
Safety First
Safety continues to be a cornerstone for the Altroz. It previously secured a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP, and the 2025 version builds on that with additional features:
- Six Airbags: Standard across all variants.
- ESC (Electronic Stability Control): Helps maintain vehicle control.
- TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System): Real-time tire pressure info.
- 360-Degree Camera: With 2D and 3D modes for easier parking.
- Blind Spot Monitor: Enhances safety during lane changes.
- Other Features: All seats come with three-point seatbelts, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and emergency SOS calling on higher trims.
Pricing and Availability
Tata launched the 2025 Altroz facelift at an introductory price of ₹6.89 lakh (ex-showroom), with the top-end variant going up to ₹11.49 lakh. It’s available in five main trims: Smart, Pure, Creative, Accomplished S, and Accomplished+ S.
Dealerships across India are already stocking the new Altroz, and customer deliveries are expected to begin shortly. Interested buyers can book theirs by paying a token amount of ₹21,000 either online or at their local Tata dealership.
The 2025 Tata Altroz might not reinvent the wheel, but with its updated aesthetics, enhanced feature list, flexible powertrain options, and continued focus on safety, it makes a pretty compelling case in the premium hatchback market.
